wRitiNg skiLLs

WRITING SKILLS
-ability to put thoughts into words

* RESONANT CHARACTERS
-the most important tool in effective writing skills
-use characters in writing for it to be understandable for readers
sample:
Managers achieve success through hardwork.

* ACTION VERBS
-use strong active visual verbs to propel your writing and readers along
sample:
The Manager crafted the memo with resonant characters and strong verbs

* THE 8 WORD TEST
-keep your noun and verb within 8 words of each other

* LINK SNTENCE AND PHRASES WITH EXPLICIT CONNECTORS
-using this explicit connector it could clear the flow throughout the thoughts of the document

*FROM OLD TO NEW
-establish common ground in your message development that would refresh their mind from
the past lessons and reconnect it to the present rather than instantly introducing them the new
information

*PROBLEM-SOLUTION-ACTION
-frame the problem
-pose a solution
-call action


STEPS IN GOOD WRITING
  • -choose interesting subject
  • -narrow the subject down
  • -come up with a statement
  • -answer the question "why"
  • -wrap it up

    -"The head of the different responsibility centers will have their monthly meeting this comming saturday"
    instead of using the word "head of responsibility center" you can change it to "department head" so that it would be more understandable for the readers..
    "The department heads will have their monthly meeting this coming saturday"

    ..FRAME-SOLUTION-ACT..
    -frame your problem so that it would be easier for you to act the solution to your problem.

    ..use action verbs so that your readers will easily understand the meaning of the text..


    LINK SENTENCE AND PHRASES WITH EXPLICIT CONNECTORS
    ..use conjuctions in your text so that it will be easier to understand..

    The board meeting was removed BECAUSE of the absence of the other board members.

    -It is a verb that shows that something is being done and which describes an act or activity with a strong active visual vebs.(ex: The alarm clock buzzed like an angry bumblebee.)

    THE 8 WORD TEST
    -with in 8 word but not more that 8. (ex: Peter and his friends has drunk three glasses of water this afternoon.)

  4. The 8 word test is used to identify that between noun and verb there is at least 8 words.And also it is used to make the sentences longer. Ex. Wrong; The boxing referee returned in the ring. Right;The boxing referee who will officiate the heavy weight championship match returned in the ring.
